Amy Firestone

About Me

I completed two undergraduate degrees (BFA in fine art and a BA in English) before returning to Westminster College to earn two masters degrees (MAT for grades K-6 and M.Ed. in special education). Basically, Amy likes to create, read, write, teach, and be in school as much as possible. When not doing the above, you can find her indulging her sweet tooth for baked goods (preferably homemade by someone else), enjoying the outdoors, or spending time with family and friends.

REMOTE LEARNING DURING THE COVID-19 CLOSURE

During Salt Lake City District’s closure for the COVID-19 virus, you can keep in touch with me and what's going on in our “classroom” through the ClassDojo app. I have my the app downloaded on my phone and will usually be able to respond to you within an hour. You can also reach me via email at amy.firestone@slcschools.org. My official “office hours” will be from 10 AM to 11 AM each weekday, though don’t hesitate to contact me before or after that time window. I will respond on weekends as able.

Daily Schedule

  1. Starting on Wednesday, March 18 please watch my daily videos, which I’ll upload to YouTube. I will send you each day’s link through the ClassDojo app. This way I can still stay in touch with your students, without being near enough to actually touch them :)
  2. Third and fourth graders complete a page of Daily Calendar Math. I will be uploading a video on how to do this soon. Please complete the “I know about ______” writing prompt on the back. I’m so excited to read what you know!
  3. Movement break to get out wiggles
  4. One to two math worksheets and 20 minutes of ST Math
  5. Movement break
  6. Go to “Scholastic Learn at Home” and read and/or watch the two books (one fiction and one non-fiction) and complete the related activities for the day. They are uploading a week at a time (5 days per week). Here’s the login information you’ll need: username: Learning20 | password: Clifford . You can choose whatever grade level seems to best fit your child’s understanding. This does not need to correspond to their current grade level. For example, second graders could watch the pre-K and K books. My daily videos may reference the pre-K to K daily topics
  7. Movement break
  8. 20 minutes of Lexia
  9. Movement break
  10. Words Their Way sorts/Lexia Skill Builders/Reading
