PARKVIEW LIBRARY UPDATES
- Thank you for supporting our fall Book Fair! We raised over $1,000 for our library!

- WELCOME BACK Moose and Suzanne! The Parkview Library is continuing to host the R.E.A.D. (Reading Education Assistance Dogs) program! Each Monday Moose (along with his handler Suzanne) visits the Library to read with Parkview students. The students light up as they read to these loving and attentive certified therapy dogs. We are very fortunate to have this program at our school. Read more about it at Reading Education Assistance Dogs® (R.E.A.D.)®

- Code week: Writing code is what software engineers do to create fun apps and games! You can try it too! Use this link to practice Dance Party (the example we played with in Library class): Dance Party Warm Up
Or, go to Code.org website to explore on your own! Have fun!

About Mrs. Furman, Parkview Librarian:

I am delighted to be the Library Media Specialist at Parkview Elementary School. I spend my days looking for ways to get quality literature into the hands of our students and helping them to stay curious and connected. I teach reading engagement, media literacy, and research skills to students Pre-k through 5th grade. My teaching background includes 10 years of teaching 4th grade and 4 years of teaching kindergarten. The library doors are always open so stop in to say hello, search the catalog, research your curiosities, trade book recommendations, or simply to enjoy a peaceful space.

Parkview Library Media Center Mission Statement:
The School Library Media Center provides curriculum support, research guidance, enrichment through literature appreciation, and other learning experiences to the students, faculty, staff and patrons of the school community. The Library fosters a positive environment that encourages inquiry and discovery through the use of organized accessible resources. The School Library Media Program teaches students to be independent lifelong seekers of knowledge who are capable of information retrieval and who value libraries and learning.
